We would rather make the opportunity completely clear up front so you can decide whether the model fits what you want.

You Are Not a VMS EmployeeYou operate independently and control how you organize your sales activity.
No Cost, Fees or InvestmentVMS does not charge you to join, train, onboard, remain active or participate.
Full-Time or Part-TimeYou decide how much time you want to commit.
Set Your Own ScheduleNo required shifts or fixed employee schedule.
No Required Sales QuotasNo minimum sales production is required simply to remain a VMS sales agent.
No Minimum HoursYour level of activity is your decision, although income is directly tied to performance.
Performance-Based IncomeNo salary, hourly wage or employee benefits. Earnings come from qualified activity and production.
Not an MLMNo buy-in, inventory requirement, autoship, starter package or required purchase to participate.
VMS provides the products, systems, training, support and opportunity. You decide how much you want to build with them. Certain bonuses, compensation tiers and promotions have their own qualification requirements, but there is no required quota or minimum production simply to remain an independent VMS sales agent.

Two New Conversations

More Businesses Are Worth Talking To

Two recent VMS initiatives expand the kinds of conversations a sales agent can have with business owners.

Our Square Partnership

Sometimes Square is the right answer. VMS can help businesses access Square payment and point-of-sale solutions while adding the guidance and support of working with our team. An existing interest in Square no longer automatically means you have to sell the merchant away from it.

Our New Advocacy Program

Sometimes a business may not need to change its processor or point-of-sale system at all. For qualifying merchants, our new advocacy program creates another possible path to help reduce the cost of accepting payments while allowing the business to potentially keep what it already uses.

More solutions create more relevant conversations and more ways to help the business in front of you.
The Actual Work

What You Actually Do as a VMS Sales Agent

This is a relationship-driven sales opportunity. Your job is to find businesses, start conversations, understand their needs and connect the right opportunities to the right VMS solutions.

1
Find BusinessesPhone, networking, referrals, local outreach, partnerships or your existing relationships.
2
Start ConversationsLearn what they use today, what they like, what frustrates them and where opportunities may exist.
3
Analyze & DemoReview pricing, compare solutions, demonstrate technology and identify a legitimate business need.
4
Present SolutionsRecommend the VMS product or program that makes sense rather than forcing every merchant into one answer.
5
Build the RelationshipFollow up, support the account, ask for referrals and continue growing your merchant portfolio.
You do not need to memorize every VMS product before you start. Learn how to recognize an opportunity, ask good questions, use the available resources and bring in support when you need it.
Compensation

How, When and Why You Get Paid

Sales agents can create income at multiple points in the merchant relationship. You can earn before a merchant is sold, earn again when an account activates, and then build recurring monthly income from active accounts.

Before the Sale

Qualified Prospect Commission

$25–$50 Each

You can earn commission when a qualified merchant prospect agrees to go through a side-by-side rate comparison and solution demo. A sale does not have to happen first.

Monthly level:
1–5 qualified prospects = $25 each
6+ qualified prospects = $50 each

There is no stated maximum number of qualified prospect commissions you can earn.
When the Merchant Activates

New Account Commission

$100–$700+

When a merchant agrees to switch, is approved and activates the account by beginning to run customer transactions through VMS, an additional one-time commission is earned according to the applicable compensation schedule.

Separate from the prospect commission.
There is no stated maximum number of merchant activation commissions you can earn.
Every Month

Lifetime Residual Income

Recurring Monthly

Active merchant accounts can continue producing residual income month after month based on the transactions processed by the businesses in your portfolio.

No vesting period.
No ongoing minimum production is required simply to keep earning eligible residuals from active accounts, subject to the agent agreement.

When Weekly Commissions Are Paid

Activity Window OpensThursday at 12:01 PM Pacific
Activity Window ClosesThe following Thursday at 12:00 PM Pacific
PayoutEligible commissions from that weekly activity period are paid on Friday.
The Long-Term Opportunity

Residual Income Is the Part to Understand

The upfront commissions matter. The bonuses matter. But the ability to build recurring monthly residual income from a growing portfolio of active merchants is what can make this opportunity fundamentally different from a traditional one-and-done sales job.

Credit TransactionsEligible merchant credit-card activity contributes to the revenue generated by the account.
Debit TransactionsEligible debit-card activity is part of the ongoing transaction volume generated by the merchant.
ACH TransactionsEligible ACH activity can also create ongoing revenue under applicable programs.
Gift Card TransactionsEligible gift-card activity can create additional recurring earning opportunities.

As long as an eligible merchant continues using VMS services and generating applicable transaction revenue, the agent can continue receiving the contractual residual share from that account. The residual does not require a new sale every month and does not expire merely because an agent stops producing new business.

1

Build the Account

You find and activate a merchant that becomes part of your portfolio.

2

The Merchant Processes

The business continues accepting customer transactions through eligible VMS services.

3

You Receive Your Share

Your applicable residual percentage is paid from eligible revenue generated by the account according to your compensation agreement.

The key idea: you are not forced to start every month at zero. New sales can add new accounts to a portfolio that may already be producing monthly residual income.
Monthly Performance

Production Bonuses Reward Momentum

In addition to weekly commissions and monthly residual income, sales agents can earn monthly production bonuses based on activated merchant accounts from the prior month.

$7505 Activated AccountsPrior-month production
$1,75010 Activated AccountsPrior-month production
$3,00015 Activated AccountsPrior-month production
$5,00020 Activated AccountsPrior-month production
Monthly performance bonuses and eligible residual income are generally paid around the 28th of the month.
Separate earning opportunities may also be available through business loans and working capital, payroll, consumer finance, equipment, websites, social and digital marketing, and other VMS products and services.
Think Bigger Than One Product

One Merchant Can Create More Than One Opportunity

Your goal is not to force every business into the same solution. Learn the business first, then identify where VMS can genuinely help.

Self-Selection Matters

Who This Sales Opportunity Fits, and Who It Does Not

Flexibility and uncapped performance-based income can be attractive, but this opportunity still requires ownership, activity and follow-through.

This Can Be a Strong Fit For

  • Self-motivated people who can work without a manager chasing them
  • Strong communicators who enjoy talking with business owners
  • People who want control over their schedule and level of activity
  • Experienced salespeople who want recurring income potential
  • Career changers willing to learn a new industry
  • People who value relationship building, follow-up and referrals

This Is Probably Not the Right Fit For

  • Someone specifically looking for W-2 employment
  • Someone who requires guaranteed hourly or salaried pay
  • People who do not want to prospect or start business conversations
  • Those who need a fixed schedule assigned by an employer
  • People looking for passive income without first creating business activity
  • Someone unwilling to learn, follow up or consistently develop sales skills

Common Questions

Questions Sales Candidates Usually Ask

Clear answers before you decide whether to move forward.

Is this a W-2 job?
No. This is a 1099 independent contractor sales opportunity. Sales agents are not employees of Valued Merchant Services and do not receive salary, hourly wages or employee benefits.
Does VMS charge me anything to become or remain a sales agent?
No. VMS does not charge a joining fee, application fee, training fee, monthly membership fee, franchise fee, software fee, starter-kit fee or required investment to participate. You are responsible for ordinary personal expenses associated with operating independently, such as your own phone, internet or transportation.
Is VMS an MLM or network marketing company?
No. There is no buy-in, required inventory, product autoship, starter package or requirement that you purchase products or services in order to earn. VMS is a business-services company. Sales agents earn based on legitimate merchant activity and applicable product or service production.
Do I have to work full time?
No. You can build the opportunity full time or part time and set your own schedule. Because compensation is performance based, the amount and quality of activity you create will naturally affect your results.
Are there required sales quotas or minimum hours?
No required sales quota, minimum production level or minimum number of weekly hours is required simply to remain a VMS sales agent. Individual bonuses, compensation tiers or promotions may have their own qualification requirements.
Can I really get paid before a merchant buys anything?
Yes. Eligible qualified prospects can generate a commission when the merchant agrees to go through a side-by-side rate comparison and solution demo. The current structure pays $25 each when you have 1–5 qualified prospects for the month and $50 each when you have 6 or more, subject to the current compensation schedule and eligibility requirements.
When do weekly commissions get paid?
Weekly activity is measured from Thursday at 12:01 PM Pacific through the following Thursday at 12:00 PM Pacific. Eligible commissions from that activity period are paid on Friday.
What happens when a merchant becomes a customer?
Once the merchant agrees to switch, is approved and activates the account by beginning to run customer transactions through VMS, the agent earns the applicable one-time activation commission, generally ranging from $100 to $700+ depending on the account and compensation structure.
How does residual income work?
Eligible active accounts generate transaction revenue as merchants process customer payments. The sales agent receives the applicable contractual share of eligible revenue from the merchant portfolio. That can include revenue associated with credit, debit, ACH, gift-card and other eligible transaction activity. Residuals are paid monthly and can continue as long as the eligible merchant remains active and the applicable agreement terms are satisfied.
Do I have to keep making new sales to keep receiving residual income?
There is no vesting period and no ongoing minimum production requirement simply to continue receiving eligible residual income from active accounts. Your contractual rights and any post-termination provisions are governed by your independent contractor agreement and compensation schedule.
When are residuals and production bonuses paid?
Eligible residual income and monthly production bonuses are generally paid around the 28th of the month for applicable prior-month activity.
What are the monthly production bonuses?
Current production bonus levels are $750 for 5 activated merchant accounts in the prior month, $1,750 for 10, $3,000 for 15 and $5,000 for 20, subject to the current compensation schedule.
Do I only sell credit-card processing?
No. Agents can work with payment processing, Square, SkyTab, Clover, ACH, business funding, payroll, consumer finance, websites, social and digital marketing, gift and loyalty programs, our new advocacy program and other VMS solutions.
Do I need merchant-services experience?
No. Prior sales or merchant-services experience can help, but it is not required. Coachability, communication, consistent activity, follow-up and a willingness to learn matter greatly.
Can I sell remotely?
Yes. Many conversations, presentations and follow-ups can be handled by phone or online. Agents can also prospect and meet merchants locally in the field if that fits their preferred sales style.

Understand It First. Then Decide.

If the 1099 structure, performance-based compensation, flexible schedule, multiple product lines and long-term residual opportunity fit what you are looking for, take the next step and begin the sales-agent onboarding process.
